Subject: Upcoming change in how you access our AI assistants
Dear Users,
Thank you for using our AI-powered assistants through shared ChatGPT links.
OpenAI has announced that Custom GPTs will transition toward a new plugin-based experience. We are preparing our AI assistants for this change so users can continue accessing their capabilities through supported ChatGPT plugins.
What is changing?
Our existing Custom GPT experience will be replaced by a plugin-based workflow. The goal is to preserve useful AI assistance, specialized knowledge, and familiar commands while enabling supported integrations.
Important dates

October 19, 2026 — User transition guidance issued.

December 11, 2026 — Standard scheduled retirement of Custom GPTs.

February 11, 2027 — Extended retirement date only for eligible Enterprise workspaces with an approved deferral.
Dates may change. Follow official OpenAI account or workspace notices.
What should existing users do?

Continue using your existing shared GPT link while it remains available.

Keep important prompts, reports, and outputs for future reference.

Watch for an announcement identifying the replacement plugin and instructions for obtaining access.

Once available, install the replacement plugin if your ChatGPT account supports it.

Reconnect any external apps when required and approve only the permissions you understand.

Test your familiar commands in the new experience.
What happens to your previous conversations?
OpenAI states that existing Custom GPT conversations will remain accessible in chat history after retirement.
However, previous conversations do not automatically become the active context of a new plugin conversation. You may need to reopen a previous chat or provide relevant information again.
Will your existing GPT link still work?
The original GPT remains usable until its applicable retirement date. After retirement, the GPT page will no longer be accessible. Do not assume your existing shared link will automatically install or open the replacement plugin.
We will provide an updated access link when the replacement is available for sharing.
Do you need to pay or create a new account?
A new ChatGPT account is not automatically required. Plugin availability depends on your account, plan, and workspace permissions. Any applicable subscription or external-service requirements will be identified separately.
Our commitment
We intend to maintain continuity of our AI knowledge resources, instructional workflows, and command libraries where supported by the new platform.
Some functions, outputs, and integrations may change. We will communicate material differences and provide updated instructions.
