Title: The World Needs You

Teacher and organizer: Mrs. Dana Pippen

Homeroom: Ms. Read, Mrs. Shelton, and Mrs. Culpepper

Dream Theme: Conservation

Materials & techniques used: We painted the globe, the dream rocket and the stars. We used sharpies to make the people and animals. We wrote the words with sharpies.

Participants: Chandler, Gracie, RaMya, Jack, Eli, Branderrious, Jeremiah and Mrs. Pippen

What is your art about? We began with 7 different ideas. We worked to find a way to combine all the ideas. We decided to draw a dream rocket that has a peace sign designed in the bottom. Then we decided to draw the dream rocket going across a globe to represent our planet. We drew people and animals around the outside of the globe to represent the people and animals who will have happier lives if we live in peace together and take care of nature. Last, we wrote the words for our title and drew stars in the sky around the globe.

How can I make a difference?
In 2008, a group of educators and artists formed the International Fiber Collaborative (IFC) a non-profit organization with a mission to create deeper learning experiences through art, collaboration, and cross-curricular programming for individuals and their communities.
IFC’s current initiative, The Dream Rocket Project, started in 2009 has exhibited submissions in over 105 venues; in 2014 submissions will be connected side by side to wrap a 363’ Saturn V Moon Rocket replica at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL (48’ taller than the Statue of Liberty).
With every artwork received a student has had to ask; what is my dream for my future, and the future of my community and our world? How can students across our nation with many skills collaborate to make a difference? How can creativity and other subjects such as space, technology, science, and leadership inspire innovation? How can I make a difference?
