For anyone who has ever thought about approaching the practice of meditation and mindfulness, but not knowing where to start…..this is the absolute perfect book written from the heart of someone, like most of us, have sat on a yoga mat and rolled their eyes a time or two. Dan Harris has shared his intriguing journey of discovering meditation through his laugh out loud and “ah-ha” moments we have all experienced. Reading the evolution of a soul who has openly gone from being brash to balanced is an amazing trip that will leave you thinking and wanting more…..

As a journalist, I got more out of that part than the happy part. He talked about journalism and how you can march up and ask questions. Watch how excited people get when their faces flash on the JumboTron. Now imagine doing that for a living. Being recognized in the bank line never gets old. The price of security is insecurity; you’re only as good as your last story. He was an atheist covering religion. Assignments are journalistic heroin. You are on a front-row seat of history, witnessing world events, interfacing with the players and experiencing the senses of it all. You compete with your own colleagues. You have to have the ability to move to the next crisis. Go easy with the internal cattle prod. I liked this line from Jay Z: I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man.
