Question by Richard W: Do we have to pay sales tax and tourist tax on rental properties?
My dad currently rents out two homes in Georgia jointly with my step-mother under contract and do not collect Georgia sales tax. Recently, he has enlisted the help of a realtor to list their rentals. They insist that they have to pay sales tax and tourist tax on the rental. He wants to know if this is true.

If it is a daily rental type then transitory taxes are necessary. If it is a residential rental then no.
